I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE TODAY and brief thoughts on a weird cartoon I watched with the kid I nanny

I promised myself I would write every day for ninety days and I have to keep that promise to myself but I really don’t have a plan right now so we’re doing a stream of consciousness blog post again!

The only piece of culture I’ve consumed today is a weird series of animated shorts called Origanalos that I watched with the six-year-old I nanny about cavemen doing things that cavemen definitely didn’t do, like make music videos and fly airplanes. Honestly, I kind of zoned out for most of it.

Origanalos, like a lot of the content the kiddo enjoys, is predominantly nonverbal, aside from occasional gibberish and grunt-y sounds from the two cavemen featured in the show. Before I worked with this specific kid I’d been working mostly with older kids for a few years and I’d forgotten how much little kid friendly content relies predominantly on non-verbal, physical storytelling. As an adult, it doesn’t really hold my attention. That being said, Wall-e is one of my all time favorite movies and that has hardly any dialogue. And I love watching dance, especially ballet. I hold contradictions! People are complex!

Say something smart say something smart say something smart

Here’s the thing friends. This is my blog and my own rule about daily writing and I get to decide what counts. Tomorrow my schedule is more structured so I will have time to write something more thoughtful. But today, this is what you’re getting, because at this moment this is more an exercise in personal accountability than in demonstrating my writing skills. And I am honoring my commitment to myself!

I need to wrap this up before I say something really stupid. Good night friends.
