The Comedy of Errors

by William Shakespeare

Directed by Anthony McKay

The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins separated at birth. When one pair arrives in the hometown of the other, the twins encounter each others' friends and family members, setting forth a series of mishaps including wrongful beatings, near-seduction, two arrests, and a small handful of false accusations.

In the summer and fall of 2014, I collaborated with Tony McKay on a seven person rendition of William Shakespeare's shortest and arguably most farcical play, The Comedy of Errors. We set our production in a props shop, with actors running wild, switching hats and props to portray the colorful cast of characters that make up Shakespeare's tale of mistaken identities. This production was my first experience with Shakespearean dramaturgy, now a staple of my career, allowing me to delve into text and language in an incredibly intricate and demanding way.
